At ao textiles we constantly question every part of the natural dye process from plant to end of a garments life. As a result we have made links with UK farmers informing our research as to the feasibility of growing natural dyes as part of crop rotation, research that is ongoing. Is it possible to grow dye plants in the UK regeneratively and even biodynamically? It turns out that after much practical discussion, new generation farmers are open to such possibilities. Indeed it can be realistic rather than idealistic to grow dye plants in a circular way. Watch this space as we evolve our natural dyes in production.
